Vicki Bloom

Vicki Bloom first discovered her love of art when she was gifted a 100 Crayola crayon box as a young child. She would spend hours coloring and memorizing each color's name. She went on to earn a degree in Art History, followed by a career in librarianship. Throughout her professional pursuits, she never put aside her art.  She took numerous workshops in a wide variety of mediums, with the latest being Nicholas Wilton’s intensive Art2Life courses and international Academy of Artists.  Now retired (and a recent NC resident), Vicki is able to devote more time to using those same Crayola colors in her current work. She also incorporates texture to add depth, movement, and emotional resonance. Her works have been displayed at ArtSpace, the Fine Arts League of Cary, the Riverside Art Museum, CA and South Bend Museum of Art, IN, among others.

Statement

I am an intuitive painter who loves to experiment and be spontaneous, often without a plan or theme in mind. For me, this process of working allows me to create a sense of play and energy in each piece that I create. My love of circular shapes, color and texture also are prominent in my paintings.  While most of my latest works are painted in acrylic or encaustic (wax), I also dabble in pastel, mixed media, alcohol inks, and printmaking.?
