I am a science communicator, painter and illustrator based in Durham. I attended Durham School of the Arts and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where I studied journalism. I enrolled in the natural science illustration program at the Rhode Island School of Design, and received a certificate in 2023.
I’m interested in fine arts painting in oil, watercolor and acrylics, natural science illustration and painting plein air, or in the outdoors. For me, plein air painting is a meditative practice as well as a chance to appreciate and fully see the environment around me, outdoors. I’ve participated in plein air festivals across North Carolina.
StatementMy focus in natural science illustration, as well as in fine arts painting, is painting the natural world to inspire people to work to protect the environment - a cause that I feel is important than ever due to human-caused climate change that will have sweeping impacts on people, our environment and biodiversity.
