The Small Treasures Exhibition has become an annual tradition at the Cary Gallery. It is an opportunity to showcase the remarkable artwork being created in the Triangle and across the State of North Carolina.

About Cary Gallery of Artists

The Cary Gallery of Artists is a cooperative operated by local artists. We feature contemporary and traditional fine art and craft, with more than 300 artworks exhibited by 24 artists from around the Triangle. An artist is on duty, so stop by during regular business hours. Displays change monthly, just before our "Final Friday' evening reception, so there is always new work to enjoy when you visit.

Since our founding in 2005, Cary Gallery has offered affordable, high-quality original artwork. Our wide array of pieces includes jewelry, ceramics, paintings, wood, glass, and much more. Many of the artists who call our gallery "home" are well known—teaching, exhibiting, winning awards, and appearing frequently in the press.

A great time to visit is during Cary's Final Friday Art Loop. The last Friday of each month we are open until 8 pm to feature special showings by member artists. Join the fun at these celebrations—we always offer great conversation and goodies, and occasionally live music. Come out and meet the artists, and bring your friends and family!

Laura Oleniacz

I am a science communicator, painter and illustrator based in Durham. I attended Durham School of the Arts and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where I studied journalism. I enrolled in the natural science illustration program at the Rhode Island School of Design, and received a certificate in 2023.

I’m interested in fine arts painting in oil, watercolor and acrylics, natural science illustration and painting plein air, or in the outdoors. For me, plein air painting is a meditative practice as well as a chance to appreciate and fully see the environment around me, outdoors. I’ve participated in plein air festivals across North Carolina.

Statement

My focus in natural science illustration, as well as in fine arts painting, is painting the natural world to inspire people to work to protect the environment - a cause that I feel is important than ever due to human-caused climate change that will have sweeping impacts on people, our environment and biodiversity.
