Jeanne Tanner

Jeanne Bryk Tanner is a Cary-based mixed media fine artist whose work reflects the rhythms of nature and her life experiences. Recognized for her artistic talent from a young age, she participated in various art classes and earned accolades as a premier school artist. Jeanne pursued formal art education in diverse disciplines before shifting her focus to Occupational Therapy at Ohio State University, where she combined her artistic skills with therapeutic practices to aid individuals facing physical and mental challenges.

Her experiences working with medical illustrators and photographers, along with her travels in Europe—especially in France—have significantly influenced her art, drawing inspiration from Renaissance and Impressionist styles. Now transitioning from her occupational therapy career, Jeanne fully dedicates herself to painting, creating oil artworks that resonate with viewers by transforming cherished memories into visual experiences. Through her art, she invites others to connect with nature and find peace, hoping to inspire them to view the world through her perspective.

Statement

In winter, I find beauty in nature, from the radiant white orchids on my windowsill to the vibrant colors of fall. Spring brings magical days in the mountains and the romantic vibes of Verona in May, while summer afternoons at the beach offer a perfect blend of sunshine and fun. My garden is a delightful array of scenes and colors that bloom continuously from February through November, inspiring my work. I see my art, like my garden, as a continual process of change, personal growth, and reflection intertwined with these cherished memories. I enjoy turning these memories into oil paintings—they're slow and easy to work with, allowing me to relax and recall my spiritual hopes for paradise. Whenever I depict these beautiful moments on canvas, it takes me to a place of inner peace and joy. Through my art, I invite others to share this tranquil journey with me.
