Annie Kinney grew up along the Western sea coast of Ireland, marooned in an area called the Burren. It was here Annie fell in love with the outdoors, listening to the ancient rocks have secret conversations with the Atlantic Ocean.. Annie has always loved drawing and painting, but it wasn’t until the Pandemic of 2020 that Annie started painting seriously. She is drawn to ordinary, everyday scenes elevated by dramatic light.
StatementI am a contemporary impressionist painter, always chasing the light. I look for compositions with interesting shapes and variety. I don’t always try to be too explicit when I paint, my focus is on light and how it interacts with the landscape.
