Color first drew me to painting and it’s still the part of the process I most enjoy. Not surprisingly, Diebencorn, Matisse, Van Gogh, and Kandinsky have each inspired me, even though my own paintings are more representational renderings. I look for references that show interesting interactions of color and shape, which could be in a face, a flower, a vegetable, or a landscape. This is where my artistic journey continues to take me.

Statement

My representational paintings are created using water soluble oils, on canvas or board, in my home studio from mostly my own photographs. Bright spots of color, up close perspectives, and impasto textures are fea in much of my work.
